philosophy
After three successful editions, the 4th edition of the Vienna International Music Competition has been designed to provide a large number of awards to exceptional musicians: recitals at the emblematic Musikverein and the Mozarthaus; cash prizes; 5 digital albums; and many Special Awards. The Vienna International Music Competition has supported talented musicians from across the globe: Many past winners are undertaking international careers.
Vienna is universally considered the capital of classical music, and Musikverein is one of the most popular and prestigious classical concert halls, closely connected to iconic orchestras like the Wiener Philharmoniker and legendary musicians like Herbert von Karajan.
Music students and music professionals of all nationalities, ages and musical disciplines (piano, strings, wind, voice, chamber music and composition) are invited to apply.
At least 20 musicians will receive a First Great Award and will perform at the Winners’ Concerts at Musikverein and Mozarthaus. They will receive a cash prize, professional pictures, a trophy, a diploma and free invitations. Additionally, 5 music albums will be awarded, and many special prizes.
The 4th Vienna International Music Competition has been designed as an ONLINE COMPETITION so that musicians can show all their potential through video recordings (travelling is not required to apply). The aim of this competition is to find performers with strong artistic personalities and stage presence. The emphasis is therefore not on the purely technical aspect of the performance, but mainly on the artistic charisma and musicality.
