philosophy

After two sucessful editions at Musikverein (first year) and Wiener Konzerthaus (second year), the third edition of the Vienna Insternational Music Competition has been designed to provide a large number of awards to exceptional musicians: recitals at the emblematic Musikverein; cash prizes; 5 recording projects; management and many special awards.

Vienna is universally considered the capital of classical music, and Musikverein is one of the most popular and prestigious classical concert halls, closely connected to iconic orchestras like the Wiener Philharmoniker and legendary musicians like Herbert von Karajan.

Music students and music professionals of all nationalities, ages and musical disciplines (piano, strings, wind, voice and chamber music) are invited to apply.

At least 10 musicians will receive a First Grand Award, and will perform at the winners’ concert at Musikverein. They will receive a cash prize, a recording from the concert, professional pictures and free invitations. Additionally, 5 recording projects will be awarded.

In the current pandemic context caused by Covid-19 outbreak, the 3rd Vienna International Music Competition has been designed as an ONLINE COMPETITION so that musicians can show all their potential through video recordings (traveling is not required to apply). The aim of this competition is to find performers with a strong artistic personality and stage presence. The emphasis is therefore not on the purely technical aspect of the performance, but also on the artistic charisma of the performer. Due to the current pandemic context, the videos submitted on the application form can be recorded at home, and the technical quality of the recording will not be taken into consideration.

Application deadline:  20 APRIL 2021
